Description

“In November 2018 we said goodbye to my father-in-law, the wonderful, Roy Bailey. Roy was an inspiration to me from a young age when he would come and sing at the Scunthorpe Folk Club and he just got better and better as the years went on. He was an incredible singer, one of the finest with an effortlessly fabulous voice, but what made him really unique was his ability to tell a story. He would create an atmosphere of community and togetherness like no one else could and it was my pleasure to accompany him many times since I got together with Kit, his daughter in 2003. Roy’s regular concert at Towersey Festival at 3pm on a Monday afternoon had become a firm fixture in the calendar and the audience there absolutely adored him, as they did all over the world. In 2015 the concert was recorded and this wonderful album is the result. I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this performance along with Roy and with Andy Cutting, Marc Block and Ian Brown. Even Kit and our child make a special guest appearance.

It’s a lesson in love, community and great, human stories.”
